Ballroom Marfa invites you to the official catalogue launch of Hello Meth Lab in the Sun. Commissioned by Ballroom Marfa for our Spring 2008 exhibition, Hello Meth Lab in the Sun unearthed the complex relationships between 1960s counterculture and present day dystopias. The installation immersed visitors in a labyrinthine assemblage of possible sites for modern day alchemical transformation. The installation was shown in part at The Station during Art Basel Miami 2008, and a variation of the original is currently on show at Deitch Projects, New York.
The official catalogue launch will be held at Ballroom Marfa from 6-8pm. Contributors will be present. Refreshments will be served. All are invited to attend.

QUINTRON & MISS PUSSYCAT
Friday 14 August 2009, 8:30pm
At Padre's Marfa - Tickets: $10 at the door
Quintron and Miss Pussycat's wildly distinctive performances combine rock concert, puppet pageantry, and dance party into a single exhilarating experience. Quintron has developed a unique blend of dance-swamp-synth-pop & rollerskating-organ-electronica, centered around his own technological invention, the drum buddy (a 4-oscillator, light activated, mechanically rotating drum machine). His raucously lo-fi cacophonies take audiences on mysterious and magical adventures whose only possible inspiration is the maddening beauty of their hometown New Orleans. Meanwhile, Miss Pussycats puppet shows incorporate a cast of anthropomorphized misfit animals whose lives take fantastic and often violently-dramatic twists, along with frequent musical & dance accompaniment.
