Celebration of National Library Week.
Everyone is welcome on Thursday April 14th from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. to join the Friends of Marfa Public Library for Afternoon Tea (and coffee) in celebration of National Library Week and to launch their Annual Membership Drive. The afternoon will be highlighted by several local speakers of note. At 4:00 P.M. Wendy Wright will give a presentation of a new children�s book she illustrated entitled THE ADVENTURES OF DROP.
This will be followed at 4:30 P.M. by Douglas Humble, Marfa Residency Manager of the Lannan Foundation, who will speak about the work of the Lannan Foundation here and elsewhere. Says Humble, �Lannan has always been impressed with the work of the Marfa Public Library. Books are an integral part of an informed public and Lannan is honored to be a part of that endeavor with the Marfa Public Library�.
At 5:30 P.M. Caitlin Murray will speak on her work as an archivist at the Judd Foundation and in the field of Library Science. Murray is inspired by S.R. Rangathan, noted twentieth century librarian and she will speak on his philosophies
The program will end with Library Director, Gloria Applegate addressing alarming current concerns of public libraries in Texas and the effect of possible budget cuts.
The Friends of Marfa Public Library are dedicated to supporting the library�s services in any way they can. They have purchased six computers that are available for public use; they recently donated a state-of-the art Blu-Ray player for the Library�s film program and soon a beautiful bulletin board will be installed to display art projects from community children.

The aptly titled Railroad Revival Tour will feature the three bands playing concerts at six unique outdoor locations along the route, beginning April 21st in Oakland, California.
