The Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute invites the public to attend the grand opening of its new geology exhibit, titled Our Dynamic Landscape: Geology, Culture, History at their Nature Center and Botanical Gardens. The exhibit is installed on Claytons Overlook, the highest point on the Institutes landsite, and is designed to encourage visitors to learn how to read the geological, cultural, and historical landscape of the Davis Mountains. The ribbon cutting ceremony is at 10 am, followed by guided hikes to Claytons Overlook. The hike is moderate to strenuous, but the panoramic 360 degree view at the top is well worth the effort. Refreshments will be served throughout the day. Bring a water bottle and wear a hat and sturdy shoes. The Nature Center and Botanical Gardens are located on HW 118 four miles south of Fort Davis.
