Description: | A free workshop to make Flor de Papel (paper flowers) will be held at Marfa Studio of Arts on Saturday, April 17, 1:00 - 3:00. The tradition of making paper flowers is associated with Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Mexico and communities throughout the Southwest. The workshop will be led by "Romi" assisted by Alexsandra Annello and 8th grade student Aitana Reyes. The workshop is open to all community members regardless of age or skill level. Teens are especially welcome as well as those who practice this art form and would like to share their expertise. Individual flowers and garlands made in the workshop will be used to decorate the Crowley Theater Stage during the Marfa Film Festival and lots of flowers will go home with participants as well. Marfa Studio of Arts is located at 106 East San Antonio (Hwy. 90) across from T & C. This project is funded in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts and the City of Marfa, Department of Parks and Recreation. For further information contact: Ellie [email protected] |
