Description: | The Chinati Foundation invites all Big Bend area residents and visitors to a community celebration on Sunday, May 23 from 10 AM-2 PM. A free brunch, a giant art-making project, and special tours for kids will take place on the museum grounds throughout the day. All activities are free of charge and everyone is welcome to join. Bring your friends and neighbors for a day of food and festivities! The John Chamberlain Building, Donald Judd's concrete and aluminum works, and Dan Flavin's installation made from colored fluorescent light will be open for visitors to explore at their own pace. A free brunch catered by Carmen's Cafe will be served all day in the Arena by Chinati staff and local volunteers, with lots of additional delicious food and beverages prepared and donated by area businesses. There will be hands-on art projects for visitors of all ages, with the Arena serving as both staging area and exhibition hall�and special half-hour tours just for kids start at 11:00 AM and again at 1:00 PM. Community Day is generously supported by in-kind donations from the Big Bend Sentinel, Frama/Tumbleweed Laundry, Susan Simmons Reihhardt, Katherine Shaughnessy and our many local volunteers.
