Marfa Dialogues/Dilogos en Marfa
Politics and Culture of the Border
Marfa, Texas
Inspired by art's potential to elicit critical conversation and generate new ideas, Ballroom Marfa has launched Marfa Dialogues, an initiative to bring together voices reflective of the many perspectives of our diverse community. Please join us in Marfa for our inaugural event, where we will address some of the complex issues most pressing to us as a community in the border regions of the United States and Mexico.
Ballroom Marfa and The Washington Spectator, in collaboration with The Big Bend Sentinel, Marfa Public Radio and Marfa Book Company, will present Marfa Dialogues: Politics and Culture of the Border, three days of art, film, music, literature and dynamic conversations with leading journalists, including Charles Bowden and Mark Danner.
Start making your travel plans now, and visit the Marfa Dialogues web site for more details.

Create a Teepee Happening
Friends of El Cosmico, your inspiration is requested. How would you host an event in a teepee? Send us your ideas and win the chance to program the teepee during our Trans-Pecos Festival of Music and Love September 24-25, 2010. What you do: Email us your ideas by September 10. Extra points for creative presentation. Salon? Gallery? Movie Theater? Performance space? Anything goes, but note that we do not have a budget for your program so you will need to be able to produce it for free. We may have resources (projectors, etc.) for you to use. What you get if you win: Free camping and music for the weekend for you and your teepee party planning crew (limit 6 free admissions per team), and of course the opportunity to see your vision realized.
