Tree 101 Seminar
Wednesday, October 27, 2022 there will be a �Tree 101" program for local residents and landscapers. The program will be held at Kokernot Lodge in Alpine with registration beginning at 8:00 AM and the program beginning at 8:30. This program is being presented by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service offices in Brewster-Jeff Davis and Presidio Counties in cooperation with the Texas Forest Service and the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens.
Speakers will include Oscar Mestas-Urban Forester, Texas Forest Service, and, John White-Curator Chihuahuan Desert Gardens, U.T.E.P. Subjects covered will include: Planting Ornamental Trees, Selecting Shade & Landscape Trees, Fruit & Nut Tree Selection, Pruning Fruit Trees and Pruning Landscape Trees.
The program is free to participants with lunch on your own. All programs conducted by Texas AgriLife Extension Service serve people of all ages regardless of sex, religion, color, handicap or national origin. The Friends of the Marfa Public Library hosts their annual childrens' Halloween Costume Contest and Party on Friday, Oct 29 at the MAC Building. Registration begins at 3:30pm and the judging starts at 4pm. Contestants will be judged in age categories from infant and up. Prizes will be given in each age category for scariest, most original and cutest. This year, a new category has been added - costume based on a book character. Donations of cookies or treats are encouraged!
