Description:
The 20th annual Big Bend Gem & Mineral Show. This year's theme is "Hidden Treasures of West Texas." Numerous events are planned, including a Rock Food Table (rocks that look like food), a Rock for Life dance, a Grub Run Rally, kids' corner and field trips to Woodward Ranch and Red Rock Ranch. The Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute will be having its 24th annual Native Plant Sale Friday and Saturday, April 24th and 25th, at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center, located on HW 118 four miles south of Fort Davis. The CDRI will be selling over 150 different species of plants that are native or adapted to the Northern Chihuahuan Desert region. The sale begins at 4 pm on Friday for members of the CDRI and opens to the general public on Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. If you are not a member of the CDRI, but wish to have first pick of the plants, come Friday and join then. For a complete plant list, go to www.cdri.org.
